APRIL SHOWERS DO BRING FLOWERS BUT….

We Have Beautiful Floral Arrangements at DIBS! On Resale All Year Around!

Everyone loves a bit of color this time of year. And you will always find fresh and interesting flower arrangements at DIBS! On Resale no matter what the season. Some of the silk flower donations we get in are old and tired and  just need a little love.  Marcia fills that niche when it comes to silk flowers and dusty arrangements.

Who knew you could wash silk flowers!

Marcia is a “retired” florist and on Monday mornings you will find her working in the back cleaning, sorting and rearranging. She has a collection of tools to help her clean and spruce up the silks and a great sellection of vases to create new arrangements with.  By the end of the morning she brings  beautiful floral arrangements out for sale.

Above are some of the beautiful arrangements Marcia has created for the store.  Stop in and see what new floral arrangements have been brought out this week.

THE BIG YELLOW TRUCK

DIBS! On Resale has a Big Yellow Delivery Truck

and we like to see it on the road or on stage! Sonya and Stacey make pick-ups and deliver for us on Thursdays.  And this past week the Big Yellow Truck was used as a prop in the WMCHS Spring Musical “GODSPELL“.

We will Pick Up Furniture Donations

If you have large furniture items to donate and don’t have a way to bring them in, please give the store a call.  We will schedule a date to make that pick up.  If Thursdays won’t work for you, we will do our best to find volunteers to make the pick up on another day.

We will  also deliver your furniture purchase.  We do have a general fee of $40 for delivery and keep it within 15 miles.  Larger items or further distances will be pro-rated.

Stop in and see what we have in the store.  There is something new everyday!

Well Organized Book Shelves

At DIBS! On Resale you will find well organized book shelves.  They are kept that way by Barb who has been with DIBS! On Resale since it opened back in 2012 After sorting thousands of donated books she has learned a lot about books. She carefully looks over every book that is put on the shelf to be sure each is in good shape and is not musty or written in. Then she prices and displays them according to topic.

Bibles, Childrens books and more.

We carry children’s books, inspirational books, best sellers and most everything in between.  There is a nice selection of cookbooks as well.  In the music section you will find song books for Piano and organ and a variety of instruction books for piano, band instruments and guitar.

New books added weekly

New books are added every week and sometimes daily so stop in for first Dibs!
Did you know January is national puzzle month?  You will find them at Dibs! On Resale too.

Find Creative Inspiration at DIBS! On Resale!

Resale Shoppers Are Creative People!

When I cashier I sometimes ask customers what they are going to do with an item they are purchasing.  I often get  very creative answers.   One lady described to me how she used bud vases and tea cups to create garden art.  One customer bought a large armoire and was going to paint it red!  Another couple bought nylon stockings to fill with salt, an experiment to see if it would help to melt ice on the roof.

Ideas come from their imagination, magazines, remodeling shows and Pinterest to name a few. And when I look around DIBS! On Resale, I see a lot of the supplies you might need for those inspirations.  From furniture remake ideas to repurposed  dishes here are a few ideas to check out.

Here is a easy bird feeder using mugs that would be fun to make with kids.

  

Teacups make cute little planters

Have you seen the dressers where the drawers are replaced with baskets?  Or poetry painted on old chairs?  There are lots of ideas for upcycling old sweaters  but how could you repurpose an old suit coat?  Teacups make cute little planters and succulents grow well in unique containers.  What are your ideas? Shoes For Every Occasion At DIBS! On Resale

Shoes!

From Brand New Shoes To Totally Worn Out Shoes We Take Them All.

A lot of shoes are donated to DIBS! On Resale and we have Jill to sort, clean and display them all.  Starting in the back room Jill finds the mates and inspects and cleans each pair.  Only the best are put out on display.  On our shelves you will find all sizes from kids shoes to adults.  We also have sports shoes in season.  Cross country spikes, Soccer shoes and ice skates to name a few.

And what happens to the shoes that don’t pass inspection?  They are banded in pairs and put into large mesh bags. These bags are picked up by our ministry partners to be recycled.  Nothing goes to waste at DIBS! On Resale.

DIBS! On Resale also sells on eBay

Why do Resale Stores Sell on eBay?

Most shoppers who shop resale and thrift stores are looking for bargains.  But there are some items that just don’t fit the resale store mold or never seem to sell in the store. We want to do the best we can with the donations we are given, so last spring we signed up and were approved by eBay as an eBay for Charity non-profit. When DIBS! On Resale sells on eBay, we get  a special blue & gold ribbon identifying the listing as a charity. Once the item sells, eBay waives fees so DIBS! On Resale receives 100% of the purchase price.  Funds are processed through the PayPal Giving Fund.

Jennifer Picks Just the Right Items for eBay.

Jennifer has volunteered to handle the eBay sales for DIBS! On Resale. She is doing a great job and having a lot of fun with it.  She takes the pictures and creates the listings and once they are sold, packages them and ships them out. We have sold old books, fancy purses, and lizard skin boots but our best listing so far was a nearly new medical bag!  

 You Can Sell on eBay and Support DIBS! On Resale too!

Do you enjoy selling on eBay? Anyone who is a seller on eBay can link to our DIBS! On Resale charity when they create their listing.  Their items will show the blue & gold charity ribbon and they can choose how much of the proceeds to donate from 10% to 100%.   eBay will prorate the fees charged on the sale.  Check out the link above to see our current listings and learn more about how you can support our schools through eBay.

Charity donations to Dibs! On Resale can be made through the PayPal Giving Fund at this link  From November 28 to December 31, PayPal for Giving will add 1% to your donation!  All proceeds from this donation will go right to the schools!

Drop-Off/Pick-Up your Donations in Muskegon

Purge your closets and garages to help schools & students!

We are always so excited to receive your donations at DIBS! On Resale. To make that process simple and convenient we accept donations Monday through Friday from 10:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. and Saturday 10:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M.

Drop Off:

Please drive around to the back door and ring the bell and one of our volunteers will meet you to help you unload your car.

Pick-Up:

If you have a large item you would like to donate, please call us to schedule a pick-up in the Greater Muskegon Area. We have a wonderful van for large items.  Please click here to contact us to schedule a pick-up.

DIBS! On Resale will also provide you with a tax-deductible receipt–please remind us if we neglect to offer.

On Resale we are blessed with donations from clothes to furniture and sometimes antiques.  This spinning wheel is beautifully handcrafted.  It is a well-balanced smooth-working tool that will work as well today as it did when it was made decades ago in Yugoslavia.  We also have a beautiful little tea cart.  The original Imperial Furniture sticker on the bottom identifies it as made in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
