Thrift stores are a great place to find unusual & unique.
If you are looking for an addition to your collection of birds or lighthouses DIBS! On resale is a great place to look. If you are looking for a vintage or midcentury piece of furniture we get them in. If you like to repurpose things you will find inspiration at DIBS! On Resale.
Shoppers Share Ideas
I always talk with our customers and they frequently tell me what they plan to do with something they bought at the store. An old relish dish will make a great jewelry tray and wooden spoons will be used in garden art. So I asked for some pictures to share.
One of our customers has decorated her bathroom in a jungle theme with items she has repurposed from thrift stores. A leopard print top she found at DIBS! On Resale was taken apart so she could use the fabric to make a window scarf. The towels and artwork came from DIBS! as well. Another customer had always wanted a four-poster bed and found hers at DIBS! along with a curio cabinet that was just the right size for her bedroom.
This Mid-Century china cabinet recently found a new home in a “Jazz” themed room with a mid-Century style. And an old entertainment center found new life as a beautiful child’s kitchen complete with a scenic view out the window!
So much creativity! Shop DIBS! On Resale for your next treasure or inspiration, you won’t be disappointed!
Kids outgrow clothes before they wear them out. You have worn that sweater to three parties, time to get a new one. I’m downsizing and have extra furniture. I read that book about decluttering and now I have bags of unwanted stuff! What do you do with all this extra stuff?
Awesome donations come into DIBS! On Resale daily, we call them Blessings! Gently used clothing, household goods, and furniture. We sort, test, clean and put out the best for others to Reuse!
There are always people looking for something. Items are purchased to furnish that new apartment or fill that blank space on the wall. A piece of jewelry to complete any outfit. A unique item to complete a collection or to start a collection. Resale stores fill many needs.
Once something has been out on the floor for a while and hasn’t sold we have to move it on. DIBS! On Resale has a partnership with Muskegon Rescue Mission. They stop by once a week to pick up what doesn’t sell. They will bail clothing and take shoes to be recycled and pay us a little for that. They also take hard goods to try to sell in their stores.
We collect metal and paper to recycle. Dave and Ken from the First CRC in Grand Haven will stop by every couple weeks to pick up metal and paper for recycling.
They have a huge recycling program at their church and work hard at keeping metals out of our landfill. Gail manages our housewares department. Her church has a kitchen pantry for families in need. She will take kitchen items that don’t sell for use in that mission. Bob will take our plastics to top off his recycle bin at home. All this is done to keep recyclables out of the landfill.
We still generate some disposable waste but I am happy to say we only have our dumpster emptied only once a month. That’s not too bad.
Drop off your donations at the BIG Blue Doors on the south side of DIBS! On Resale. Your donation is helping to generate funds to make our schools better.
At DIBS! On Resale, we receive electrical donations of all sorts. “Does this work?” is a frequently asked question. We see beautiful and unusual lamps of all sizes, candle warmers and fountains. We get electronics from clocks to radios and kitchen gadgets galore. There are tools of all sorts to dry, cut and curl hair. Games, puzzles, and toys with all the bells and whistles. We test them all.
Look for the BLUE DOT 🧿
Our Team Tests Everything
Bob helps to keep all the gadgets and gizmos sorted. Rich cleans & keeps the cords under control. And Bruce liked the massage chair he tested so much he came back a bought it! If something does not work it will be used for parts or put into a bin to be recycled.
Once the item is tested and cleaned it is ready to be put out on the floor. When you decide to make a purchase look for the blue dot 🧿 to see that it was tested. AND we will happily plug it in for you if you want further proof.

Volunteering has always been a big part of supporting our Christian Schools. From Bazaars to Banquets to Resale stores we have a community of supporters who willingly come together in support of our Christian School community.
Jennifer and Tammy
Banquet day was always a busy day. From frying swiss steak to cooking hams and all those pies! Every Church all had a group of people assigned tasks to help the dinners go smoothly.
Sharon, Sandy, and Mary
Once a year in the Fall the PTA would host a Bazaar. Booths were set up in the gym for baked goods, handicrafts, Christmas decorations and so much more. People donated goods to fill the booths and the school parking lot was overflowing with shoppers.

Dibs! On Resale first opened its doors in 2012 to raise money to support Christian education in the West Michigan area. And since we opened we have given over $130,000 to the local Christian schools. In the last two years, we have expanded our store to include eBay and Poshmark sales. This has given us the opportunity to give a gift directly to teachers each month!
Teachers always have a wish list!
Each month we choose two teachers to receive $100 each to purchase something from their classroom wish list. It’s been lots of fun to surprise a teacher with this extra money. Teachers always have a wishlist for supplies needed in the classroom. Cash for the Class has provided books for a fifth-grade reading program, Whiteboards & markers for the Spanish classes and lots of educational tools for the classrooms.

I will admit it, I am reluctant to let summer go this year, but school has started and it is time to change. Time to put away shorts and bring out sweaters.
We sort twice and put out the nicest items for our customers.
We have a great team at DIBS! On Resale who makes the switch happen. All the clothing that comes into the store is sorted twice. First Volunteers check buttons and zippers and look for stains and rips. Next, each department goes through it again choosing the best clothing to put on hangers. Every week new clothing is put out and for the last few weeks Fall clothing has been coming out of storage. Beautiful sweaters, dresses, shirts and more. Laura, Jennifer, Marie and Sadie along with many others keep the the racks fresh & full.
We carry clothing for everyone!
Men’s shirts are always a great buy and they are like new! Infant clothing is just 99c! We carry maternity and Plus sizes as well as formal wear. Stop in and check out the great selection at DIBS! On Resale.
This past week I opened a large box to find three generations of Wedding Dresses! Three very different styles from three different time periods.
Each made special for a girl’s most special day!
The first dress is very old. I am guessing from the 1920’s or 1930’s. It is handmade with lots of beadwork. The dress is short with a lace trimmed slip under a loose bodice. The skirt of the dress is lace covered with hand sewn beads at the waist. The most unique part of the dress is the stole that was made to go over the dress. It has long beaded arm loops that connect across the shoulders. A train is attached to the arm bands and that has more beadwork. Simply beautiful!
The next dress is from late 1940’s. It has a lace covered bodice and lace sleeves with 20 buttons down the back and more on the sleeves. It has a lovely train.
The third dress in the box was another short dress, possibly from the 1960’s It has a fitted bodice with pleated cap sleeves. The skirt is overlaid with tulle and has lace medallions scatted about. This dress came with a short veil and a pair of white gloves. A very sweet dress to be married in.
Dresses from every decade – a fashion timeline
We have a few other dresses in the store each from a different decade. Each was beautiful and stylish on the day it was worn.

Memorial Day is coming up, it is the official start for the summer season. School is almost done and there will be parades and family gatherings, camping and fireworks.
