Three Generations of Wedding Dresses!
This past week I opened a large box to find three generations of Wedding Dresses! Three very different styles from three different time periods.
Each made special for a girl’s most special day!
The first dress is very old. I am guessing from the 1920’s or 1930’s. It is handmade with lots of beadwork. The dress is short with a lace trimmed slip under a loose bodice. The skirt of the dress is lace covered with hand sewn beads at the waist. The most unique part of the dress is the stole that was made to go over the dress. It has long beaded arm loops that connect across the shoulders. A train is attached to the arm bands and that has more beadwork. Simply beautiful!
The next dress is from late 1940’s. It has a lace covered bodice and lace sleeves with 20 buttons down the back and more on the sleeves. It has a lovely train.
The third dress in the box was another short dress, possibly from the 1960’s It has a fitted bodice with pleated cap sleeves. The skirt is overlaid with tulle and has lace medallions scatted about. This dress came with a short veil and a pair of white gloves. A very sweet dress to be married in.
Dresses from every decade – a fashion timeline
We have a few other dresses in the store each from a different decade. Each was beautiful and stylish on the day it was worn.
