Shoppers Share Ideas
I always talk with our customers and they frequently tell me what they plan to do with something they bought at the store. An old relish dish will make a great jewelry tray and wooden spoons will be used in garden art. So I asked for some pictures to share.
One of our customers has decorated her bathroom in a jungle theme with items she has repurposed from thrift stores. A leopard print top she found at DIBS! On Resale was taken apart so she could use the fabric to make a window scarf. The towels and artwork came from DIBS! as well. Another customer had always wanted a four-poster bed and found hers at DIBS! along with a curio cabinet that was just the right size for her bedroom.
This Mid-Century china cabinet recently found a new home in a “Jazz” themed room with a mid-Century style. And an old entertainment center found new life as a beautiful child’s kitchen complete with a scenic view out the window!
So much creativity! Shop DIBS! On Resale for your next treasure or inspiration, you won’t be disappointed!
The first time I walked into our new building I couldn’t even see the walls. The building was being used as an office furniture sales and storage building. It was wall to wall, floor to ceiling office furniture! Once that was all removed we could see the potential. The first thing we needed was a new fire suppression system. Next, we brought in shelving to divide the working rooms from the showroom, build two dressing rooms and hooked up the speaker system.
Finally. It’s moving day, or maybe I should say moving weeks. We had many volunteers come in to help pack up the Harvey St store and move everything to the Apple Ave. store. The whole time we kept both stores open for business. I was most impressed with the amount of stuff the little yellow delivery truck holds! And with the enclosed trailer that came to move all the racks of clothing!
I feel truly blessed with so many volunteers who came to support this major undertaking! We have been welcomed into a neighborhood with new customers and familiar faces. Everyone is so excited and grateful for a store like ours to open in their neighborhood. And I am really glad the snow held off while all this was happening!
I am very excited to share with you the NEW DIBS! On Resale.

While sorting donations in the back room I hear a lot of “what is this?” Some of the donations we receive are new, some are old and some really should come with instructions! Are they decorative or useful or missing a part? Sometimes we just don’t know, but most times we figure it out!
What is your guess?
How did you do? Did you get most of them right?
Here are the answers:
A potato Ricer
a sock darning tool
no clue – what’s your guess?
a mug holder? It came in with scrap book supplies.
a flag stand
a flower arranging tool, you put it over the vase and stick flowers through it
part of a car seat cover
a cake tester
you put this under you pie pan to collect the spills while baking.
a safety harness maybe? This item needs instructions!
a crochet cover for a square tissue box.
Stop by DIBS! On Resale and check out all the interesting items. You never know what you might find. And you might know the answer to “what is it?” If you have the answer to 4 or 5 send me a comment below.
When I cashier I sometimes ask customers what they are going to do with an item they are purchasing. I often get very creative answers. One lady described to me how she used bud vases and tea cups to create garden art. One customer bought a large armoire and was going to paint it red! Another couple bought nylon stockings to fill with salt, an experiment to see if it would help to melt ice on the roof.
Ideas come from their imagination, magazines, remodeling shows and Pinterest to name a few. And when I look around DIBS! On Resale, I see a lot of the supplies you might need for those inspirations. From furniture remake ideas to repurposed dishes here are a few ideas to check out.
We have a French style table that would look beautiful in chalk paint – for inspiration click here
Here is a easy bird feeder using mugs that would be fun to make with kids.
